SP+ Parking recently joined Maine Medical Center (MMC) on November 1st as the center’s new parking provider, and since then, noticeable changes have been made to improve the patient experience.

“We are excited about our long-term partnership with Maine Medical Center and the immediate impact our presence on campus has had,” Alicia Pouliot-Cote, SP+ Regional Manager, commented about the changes. “The hospital’s commitment to improving both the patient and employee parking experience is an initiative we take very seriously.”

SP+ recently restriped the lot to create 70 additional spots at the center. Additionally, attendants began staffing the lot to help decrease traffic and wait time for parking.

“Valet parking allows us to enhance the first and last impression that patients and their family members may experience,” says Helena Ackerson, MPPM, Director of Patient Experience at Maine Medical Center. “MMC is clearly patient centered, and it’s exciting to see these new programs take shape.”

Other changes include valet parking for patients and visitors with mobility challenges, and curbside greeters to direct drivers to available parking and help visitors find their way upon arrival.

Additional changes are planned for the months ahead. According to Ms. Pouliot-Cote, upcoming improvements include a new fleet of shuttles, garage access through the use of EZ Pass technology, as well as mobile License Plate Recognition technology to identify trends in employee parking.
